Carlos Turcios
Program Associate for Diversity and Inclusion


Carlos was born in Virginia but has been a Marylander for most of his life. Carlos has been part of the UMBC community for a long time. As an undergraduate, Carlos completed two Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Sociology, along with two minors in French and Gender and Women’s Studies. During his undergraduate career, he became an active student in the LGBTQ groups on campus and was president of Freedom Alliance for almost two years. During this time, he focused primarily on human rights activism and research, specifically with the transgender community. As a graduate student, he earned his certificate in Management in the Non-Profit Sector. Carlos continued to be active with student organizations in grad school and has been a past President of the Sociology Graduate Student Organization. After completing his thesis, Carlos will receive his Master's in Applied Sociology from UMBC in May 2017. When he's not working or spending time with family and friends, ?Carlos enjoys swimming, dancing, kayaking, camping, watching documentaries, and gaming.
