Welcome to Student Life! Click below to "meet" our professional and student staff!
Lisa has worked in student affairs, diversity and social justice education, and training for over 15 years. She is originally from "Richmond, VA by way of Chicago, IL", spending over half her life in both areas. In July 2006, she joined the Office of Student Life as an Assistant Director. Lisa works with the events, resources, staff and off-campus partners connected to the Office of Student Life's Mosaic: Center for Culture and Diversity and Interfaith Center. In her work, she also partners and collaborates with UMBC students, staff, and faculty on diversity initiatives and events in the on and off-campus community. Lisa holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Richmond. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a founding member of the Maryland Black Family Alliance, a group of straight, black allies from diverse backgrounds who believe in justice for all Maryland families - including those headed by same-sex households. She also volunteers as a Diversity Consultant for My Sister's Circle, Inc. a Baltimore based academic and cultural enrichment mentoring program for inner city girls. Lisa loves dancing, traveling, reading, going to the movies/theatre, and spending time with family and friends - new and not-so-new. Come by the Mosaic Center to connect, collaborate, create a more inclusive world, or just chat and exhale with her.
