Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK)

Description

Allowing students who are interested in the spirituality of Hinduism to engage in discussion with a similar age group about Hinduism and its relation to their daily lives. Chinmaya Mission is a world-wide organization that was established to educate Hindu believers of all backgrounds about ancient spiritual teachings and how to apply them to their own lives. When students enter into college life and young professionalism, it is especially important to maintain an inner balance between professional and spiritual growth. Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK) aims to address this challenge. The CHYK group will read one text together about an aspect of Hindu spirituality, and meet weekly to discuss the concepts throughout the course of the year. CHYK UMBC will also cooperate with CHYK discussion groups in other parts of Maryland, as well as groups in the District of Columbia, and in Virginia for added spiritual growth.
